If you've been to my house, you've surely been given an Old Fashioned cocktail made with whatever Kentucky Bourbon we had on hand for that month. My basic recipe is lots of bourbon, maraschino cherries, fresh orange, and orange angostura bitters. I wanted to take this recipe and put a Thanksgiving twist on it for the holidays, so the cocktail cranberry was created!
The cranberries were intended to replace the cherries in a classic Old Fashioned cocktail and it sure spiced things up!
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
Handful of Fresh Cranberries
Cinnamon/clove/nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice
Orange peel (I used peel from clementine)
Add all the ingredients together and cook on medium until the cranberries burst and the water begins to cook out. This results in a candied/syrup like texture perfect for adding to cocktails or tea.
