Blanton's bourbon butterscotch cupcakes with salted bourbon butterscotch Swiss meringue buttercream & sauce and topped with coarse Fleur de Sel
This recipe is adapted from The Cake Merchant's recipe for salted bourbon butterscotch cupcakes. Instead of using that cake recipe, I took a basic yellow cake and added Lorann's cream cheese flavor (tastes like butterscotch) with Blanton's bourbon, butter, and brown sugar to make a rich butterscotch flavored cake. The SMB and butterscotch bourbon sauce recipe is adapted from the original recipe with extra bourbon and butterscotch. These little cupcakes pack a strong bourbon and butter flavor and would be perfect for a Kentucky Derby party.
